BTS Quality Standard for pleural disease

In July 2023, the British Thoracic Society (BTS) published two pieces of guidance in relation to the investigation and management of pleural disease. These were a BTS Guideline on Pleural Disease and an accompanying BTS Clinical Statement on Pleural Procedures. Building on this, BTS has commissioned a Quality Standard in this topic area for 2024.

BTS Quality Standards set out a number of concise and measurable quality statements, derived from the best available evidence that, when implemented, will help improve the quality of care across a clinical pathway or disease area.  

The Quality Standard is currently under development and is expected to be published in 2025.
