Silicosis
BTS Clinical Statement on the diagnosis, assessment and management of silicosis
Call for chair and members
The British Thoracic Society has commissioned a new BTS Clinical Statement to be produced in 2025.
BTS Clinical Statements are an important part of the Society’s range of publications. A Clinical Statement provides a practical overview of knowledge and good practice in relation to a clinical topic, based on the best available evidence and the consensus of experts in the given area.
We are pleased to invite applications from individuals for the roles of Chair and for members of a group that will produce a clinical statement on the diagnosis, assessment and management of silicosis. This document will provide much needed up to date guidance for respiratory health care professionals on managing this occupational lung disease.
The Chair will lead the Clinical Statement Group with support from BTS Head Office and the BTS Standards of Care Committee. Applicants for the role of Chair are required to be BTS members, with a track record of publications in the area of silicosis. Joint applications from two individuals for the role of co-chairs of the Group are also accepted.
Candidates for the Chair (or co-chair) positions should submit a statement (or joint statement) outlining the reasons for wishing to chair the Clinical Statement Group and what skills and expertise they would bring. Short CVs should also be included. Applicants for the role of Chair will be invited to participate in a short telephone interview.
Applicants for membership of the Clinical Statement Group should also submit a statement outlining the reasons, skills and expertise they would bring to the Clinical Statement Group. A short CV from each candidate should also be included. Applications are invited from consultant physicians, specialty trainees, nurses and other healthcare professionals. Applicants should be BTS members.
