Tobacco Dependency QI tool
The BTS Smoking Cessation QI Tool was originally produced in 2017 to help hospitals undertake local QI projects in Tobacco Dependency. The original QI Tool contained a number of resources, as well as information on how to approach improvement projects tackling the following ideas: referral for stop smoking support; prescription of nicotine replacement therapy and staff training.
In 2023, this toolkit was reviewed and updated to include results from the BTS 2021 Tobacco Dependency Audit, references to the NHS Long Term Plan, and additional information on relevant techniques and pathways. This 2023 update should be viewed alongside the 2017 original.
The documents available for download are for use by secondary care teams and may be adapted for local use. Please acknowledge the relevant individuals or organisations as the source for any materials developed from these documents.
