Audit outlier process

As part of the BTS Clinical Data Policy (for more information please see here), BTS has the right to review data submitted to national BTS audits, to identify potential outliers.

For each audit, we select a limited number of process and/or outcome measures, which we use to assess performance. For the purposes of the BTS Outlier Policy, an outlier is defined as performance that is 3 standard deviations (3SD) or more below expected performance.

We also use this process to identify performance that this well above expected, in order to share the good practice demonstrated by these services.
