Calling BTS Members - opportunities to join BTS Council, Committees and Specialist Advisory Groups

We welcome applications for a the role of President-Elect, new members of BTS Council, as well as Chairs and Members of a number of standing Committees and Specialist Advisory Groups (SAGs).

“The Society relies on you to carry out its most important activities, and we are extremely lucky to have so many enthusiastic members that choose to commit some of their time to BTS.

"Around 12% of our members are involved in BTS work at any one time, from serving on Committees and Groups, and as Officers, helping to plan and deliver our activities including education, events, and Quality Improvement. Our response to COVID-19 or the guidance on Respiratory Support Units we recently published, for example, would not have been possible without the help of many committed Members”.

Professor Jon Bennett, BTS Chair

We aim to attract and retain a membership body that reflects the respiratory community, including the various job roles that exist in respiratory teams, and we made this commitment in the BTS Inclusion, Diversity and Equality policy. We encourage Members from across the wider respiratory team to get involved by joining our network of Committees and Advisory Groups.

We invite applications for the following vacancies:

BTS President for 2022-23

The BTS President provides support to the Board at senior officer level and represents the very best of the respiratory community and of our Society to the outside world, also acting as a BTS spokesperson where needed. The person standing for President will need to have time to serve for two years, from November 2021, first as President Elect and then assuming office in November 2022.

BTS Honorary Secretary for 2022-2025

Dr Lisa Spencer will come to the end of her period of office as Honorary Secretary in November 2022. However, the Society’s constitution requires that we seek a replacement to shadow Lisa for part of next year, with a view to taking over at the Annual General Meeting in November 2022 and serving for three years until November 2025
