Call for Honorary Secretary
NOTICE OF VACANCY: HONORARY SECRETARY 2025-2028
Professor Andres Floto will come to the end of his period of office as Honorary Secretary in November 2025. The Society’s constitution requires that we seek a replacement to shadow Andres for the remainder of the year, taking over at the Annual General Meeting in November 2025 and serving for three years until November 2028.
The Honorary Secretary role is a key position for the Society, and the successful applicant will become one of the 5 Officers of the Society and a Trustee on the Board. In this position, the Honorary Secretary is instrumental in influencing, setting strategy and decision making for the Society.
Dr Lisa Spencer, Honorary Secretary 2019-2022, had this to say about her experience:
‘As Honorary Secretary you become a Trustee for the BTS charity and an Officer on the BTS Board. Along with the rest of the Board you play a role influencing and steering the direction and decision making of the Society. This to me has been a huge privilege having been involved with BTS for many years now.
This job involves working closely with the very professional and experienced team at BTS headquarters. They are a pleasure to work with. You also work closely with the rest of the Board and get to know some fantastic colleagues who you may not have the opportunity to work so closely with otherwise.
I have enjoyed my time as Honorary Secretary immensely, grown and learnt a lot. I have worked with some fabulous people and I have felt really engaged with our specialty and really felt I could make a difference.’
