BTS Physiology Webinars 2024 - Series 2

BTS is pleased to offer the second series of free physiology webinar recordings. This series focuses on a patient journey, highlighting how physiological measurements support key decisions that are made on assessment, treatment, and monitoring.

All members of the multi-professional team are encouraged to watch the recordings. 

The webinar recordings for this webinar series are available to watch for free below. CME accreditation will not be provided for the webinars and no CPD certificates will be issued upon finishing watching the recordings.

1. Acute admission – tracking a patient from presentation at hospital to starting on acute NIV.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the first session of the BTS Physiology Webinar series 2 was cancelled  and our speaker Pearlene Antoine-Pitterson has provided us with a pre-recorded version of her presentation.

This session provided an understanding of the importance of managing patients with acute respiratory failure in the right settings. 

Speaker: Pearlene Antoine-Pitterson BSc, MSc, MCSP, Respiratory Physiotherapist and Assistant    Professor of Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy, University of Birmingham. 

 

2. HOT-HMV –patient discharge and set up for care at home.

This session highlighted considerations around management and monitoring of patients and when to refer people back to hospital care.

3. Managing patients with chronic respiratory failure.

This session brought in multiple respiratory conditions including tracheostomy invasive ventilation and NIV. Discussion around the appropriate assessment and ongoing monitoring of patients in the community to improve quality of life.

4. Weaning – when, where and how?

This session highlighted the role of the multi-professional team, and included tracheostomy weaning, Specialised Weaning Units, complex home ventilation, and again monitoring and assessment.
