Respiratory Physiology 2025 - What you need to know
This course, split over 2 days, has been designed by BTS and ARTP to provide delegates with a programme on what you need to know about basic and advanced lung physiology central to everyday clinical practice. Its target audience is specialist trainees, AHPs and respiratory physicians who would like to refresh their knowledge but is equally relevant to those on the Practitioner / Scientist Training programmes, physiologists in practice or those just starting their career in clinical physiology and those preparing for the SCE.
Day 1 Topics covered include: - Basics of airways physiology; Spirometry, Blood Gases, Gas transfer; static lung volumes and their interpretation. There will also be the opportunity for some hands-on practical experience. Delegates will leave the course with a detailed knowledge base and, importantly, a strong idea about how to apply the knowledge they have gained.
The day will complement and consolidate the course that will take place on Day 2, Wednesday 4 June, in the same venue and explore CPET, challenge tests and other advanced baseline assessments such as oscillometry and respiratory muscle testing. There will also be sessions on how to ensure your physiology service is quality assured and how physiology assessments assist with clinical management.
