National Respiratory Plans

England

The Society welcomes the NHS England Long Term Plan, and particularly its respiratory focus. We are working closely with NHS England to support the delivery of the plan's respiratory objectives.

We have produced a 4-point plan to help reduce respiratory pressures on the NHS in the Winter which you can access in the downloads section below.

Scotland

The Society welcomes Scotland's Respiratory Care Action Plan: 2021 to 2026. The respiratory care action plan for Scotland covers all 14 Scottish Health Boards and can be found on the Scottish Government Website.

The plan focuses on five respiratory conditions:

  • Asthma
  • Bronchiectasis
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
  • Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF)
  • Obstructive Sleep Apnoea Syndrome

Wales

The Welsh government released a Quality Statement for Respiratory Disease at the end of 2022. The quality statement describes what good quality services for respiratory conditions should look like and is available here on the Welsh Government's website.
